Let me tell you a little about this collection – and the remarkable woman it features.

Woman of impact – Lianne.

Lianne Dalziel is a trailblazer who stepped into the male-dominated world of politics. She served as a Member of Parliament for 23 years, and then as Mayor of Christchurch for 11 years. To me, politics often feels like a modern-day battlefield, a space shaped by power, strategy, and resistance.

So when a woman steps into that arena, I am curious. I admire women who break through glass ceilings and push past barricades. Women who walk boldly onto battlefields and hold their ground.

She has carried so much – for so many. You can feel it in her presence. She’s used to the fight: standing up for what she believes in, caring for her community, making sure everyone has a seat at the table, and is seen, heard, and cared for. There’s a fierce fire in her spirit and a softness in her heart – shining through her eyes.

Seeing her presence in the Botanic Gardens, standing in the heart of the city she helped shape and serve, was beautiful.

 

My photography sessions are one of a kind.

She is the Founder of BOMA, runs the podcast “hunger and heart”, was the initiator of TEDxChristchurch, and is the recipient of the Kea 2022 World Class Friend of New Zealand Award.

If you have not met her yet, I think you could put that on your life list. When she enters the stage, she roots herself right in front of you and teaches you new perspectives. She is a futurist, a visionary – a woman who sees the present and who can dip into the future and connect to a new way of thinking.

In her presence, you realise the potential of the future, of yourself and your passion/business. You can feel the frequency she is emitting and it is none you have experienced before. A strong wahine with the huge kaupapa in helping others to learn a new way of leading.

Secretly, I am hoping that she’ll write a book one day sharing her experiences, wisdom and knowledge.

It is such a privilege to have her as part of the collection “people of impact”.
